First full week of written GCSE exams

On Wednesday, over 70 Year 11 students chose to stay in school for an extended preparation session for their first GCSE Maths exam in what the maths team called 'Last Mathematician Standing'.
40 students stayed until 6:30pm revising with their teachers. They were rewarded with pizza and a confident preparation. A huge thank you to the maths department.
Our Grassroots group went to the 'Choices and Consequences' workshop by the Ben Kinsella Trust in Islington, London. The workshop provided an immersive experience including an art gallery, cinema room, immersive theatre experience and role play to educate the students on conflict prevention and making safe choices. Students thoroughly enjoyed this experience and we are so grateful to the Ben Kinsella Trust for the invite. We look forward to seeing our Grassroots group apply the information from the workshop to implement anti-bullying initiatives around the school.
Despite the wet weather, we had a fantastic turnout for our Year 9 parents' evening on Thursday. Our staff had many positive and constructive conversations with parents and students, ensuring everyone is well-supported and on track for success. The options forms were due today so we can begin plotting the pathways and timetables for next year.
This week marked the first full week of written GCSE examinations for our Year 11 students, and we have been incredibly impressed with the drive they have shown attending Breakfast Revision with their teachers from 8.00am each morning, booster and warm-up sessions before each exam, as well as additional revision sessions after school. Year 11 students are now following their bespoke exit timetable each week, meaning students continue to attend school every day to continue to receive targeted teaching, revision and exam practice on the key topics and skills they need to succeed. Thank you to our Year 11 families for your continued support with attendance, routines and encouragement at home during this important period.
Finally, a huge congratulations to Alfie C and Jermain G (Year 10) who have been selected for a rugby award (via our rugby coaching programme). They will attend the Matt Ratana Rugby Foundation Awards on Tuesday. This special evening will be hosted by Civic Mayor, Cllr. Richard Chatterjee in Braithwaite Hall. Thank you to Mr West for his support.
