Students tackle maths challenge

This week, our set 1, Year 7 and 8 maths students took part in the prestigious UKMT Junior Mathematical Challenge.
The UKMT Junior Mathematical Challenge is a nationwide competition designed to stretch and inspire the most able young mathematicians. The students tackled a series of challenging problem-solving questions that required creativity, logical thinking, and perseverance. We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm and effort and we look forward to receiving the results in a few weeks’ time. Well done to all who took part and to Ms Devane for ensuring our students have this opportunity.
A special mention this week to Martha in Year 10 for being a brilliant role model to younger students and an asset to our community. I’d also like to praise George L in Year 8 for supporting a new student in his year group to become settled in our school. Ms Coupland’s Year 7 geography class showed intelligence and drive in their introduction to their new topic, especially Kavaughn. Finally, well done to the group of Year 11 students who worked hard in their lessons, met their deadlines and still found the time to fundraise for prom after school on Wednesday. Denzel, Malik, Kelton, Jude, Judith, Isitha, Rosie, Azariah, Aleks, Divinelyn, Emmanuella, Nyshel, Kai, Kirsten and Makai– we are very proud of you.
Thank you to everyone who attended the Year 9 Options Evening. Attendance was excellent and there was a buzz of excitement throughout the event. Students need to submit their options form by 5.00pm on Thursday 8th May.
This week we held the art and photography final exams. Thank you to Ms Pain for her commitment during the four days of exams. Next week, written exams begin – Year 11 parents will receive the timetable via the Year 11 parent bulletin today.
