Much to celebrate

We marked VE Day with a range of activities.
On Thursday 1st May, Year 10 competed in the Croydon Schools’ Athletics competition. The students were exceptionally well behaved and made us very proud. A particular mention to Keira (2nd in discus), Maya (3rd in javelin) and Daniel (3rd in high jump), who won medals on the day. 22 talented Year 9 students then represented the school on Wednesday 7th May. Staff reported a strong team spirit and immense athletic ability. Winners include:

- Zane – 3rd in 100m
- Taliyah – 1st in 200m
- Ibrahim – 2nd in 200m
- Las – 2nd in 800m
- Ata – 3rd in javelin

On Thursday, our talented Year 10 dance students had the exciting opportunity to attend KINETICA, the annual dance showcase by the prestigious BRIT School. Held at Fairfield Halls, the show featured an electrifying array of contemporary, street, and jazz dance pieces, all choreographed and performed by their outstanding students. Students returned full of inspiration and fresh ideas for their own work. The trip not only deepened their appreciation for performance but also offered a glimpse into potential pathways in dance beyond school.
Students were challenged to recite tongue twisters for our Fun Friday World Laughter Day and invited to submit their own versions by Wednesday 14th May to Miss King for their chance to win character points and prizes.
We marked VE Day with a range of activities, including making bunting and enjoying a World War II-era treat of shortbread biscuits. Students also wrote thank you letters to veterans, showing appreciation for their service and sacrifice. Tutors were invited to decorate their classrooms: well done to 9 Attenborough – your form room was glorious!
