Orchard Park High School

Year 10 Students begin their GCSE journey

On Wednesday we were delighted to host our Year 10 Welcome Event, led by our Raising Standards Lead, Ms Coupland. T

This was a very important evening as our students begin their Key Stage 4 journey, and we would like to thank the families who joined us. Thank you to Mr Baksh, Ms Twyman, Ms Agboola, Ms Coupland, Mr Oviri and Mr Mathys for their advice and support.

We held a very popular Year 7 Open Evening on Thursday with around 1200 people in attendance. We are very grateful to all of our students who supported the school as tour guides and departmental helpers; many of our visitors commented on their excellent communication skills and warm welcome. A special thank you to Maisie and Alvin for their incredible speech in which they articulately shared their experience at Orchard Park and thank you to Ellis in Year 8 who spoke beautifully, sharing her highlights of her transition to our school. I am grateful to every member of staff for their energetic and committed contributions to a really successful event: the feedback from prospective families was superb. We look forward to welcoming even more visitors at our Open Mornings over the next two weeks.

This week’s assemblies have been led by Ms Ongley, Deputy Headteacher, and have focused on safeguarding. Students were directed to several sources of support; this information is all available on the school website under ‘Information-Safeguarding’. There are also useful regular updates for parents and carers on how to support their child.

Reminders

School photographs for Years 7 and 11 will take place on Monday 22 September.

Have a great weekend.
