Orchard Park High School

Raise and give week for Reverse advent

This week we have run Raise and Give week as part of our Reverse Advent.

Each house has held its own fundraising event. Parks students had fun in a basketball competition. Lewis in Year 7 scored an incredible 12 points in 1 minute and won the competition, followed by Marques in Year 11. Hawking house ran a Just Dance party in the theatre to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Yousafzai played Red Light, Green Light in the gym to raise money for Save The Children and Attenborough created a human fruit machine as well as selling cakes and sweet treats. Staff and pupils have also decorated their house Christmas trees and begun their Shrublands food bank collections. Please continue to bring in donations to support our local community. Non-perishable food and drinks and unused toiletries are appreciated. A big thank you to everyone who came along to support our house fundraising events.

On Tuesday, we hosted a group of eight senior leaders from Belfast who came to learn more about our approach to teaching and learning, behaviour, rewards and pastoral support. The highlight of their day was eating lunch with a range of students who attend our Enhanced Learning Provision. A special thank you to Malikai in Year 7, whose confident conversation impressed them greatly. On Wednesday, members of the SEND at Gloucester Academy visited the school to see good practice in our ELP and SEND department. Thank you to all the students and staff who welcomed these visitors to the school.

Today, a group of Year 11 students travelled to Belgium for a weekend to the Euro Space Centre in Brussels. Thank you to Mr Alabi and Ms Ebanks for organising this trip: we hope you have a wonderful time.
