A bold step into the professional world

On Thursday, our Year 9 students enjoyed a visit to the global professional services firm, KPMG.
This week I hosted a Year 11 rewards breakfast, sharing hot chocolate and croissants with Cayenne, Charlie, Keiron, Lelas, Sheila, Camilla, Samuel, Alexander, Justice and Arina. These students were nominated by staff for their excellent conduct, manners and drive. It was a pleasure to spend time with them, hearing their suggestions to further improve our school and note the thanks they wanted to pass on to specific staff.
This half term in PSHE we are looking at healthy relationships within the statutory framework of RSE. On Wednesday Year 11 listened to a very informative talk from the NHS containing lots of important information and advice on where to seek support. Our students were impeccably well behaved during the presentation and asked meaningful questions. Thank you to Ms Brown for organising this.
On Thursday, our Year 9 students took a bold step into the professional world with a visit to the global professional services firm, KPMG. Hosted in partnership with The Talent Foundry, the 'Opening Doors to Opportunities' programme provided an immersive look at what it takes to thrive in a modern, fast-paced career. Students were challenged to step into the shoes of KPMG consultants and tackle real-world problems businesses face today. This environment encouraged them to move beyond academic learning and apply essential transferable skills in a high-stakes setting. We are incredibly proud of how our Year 9s represented the school, engaging with professionals as peers. Thank you to Mr Alabi for arranging the experience.
Other highlights of the week include marking National Handwriting Day in Fun Friday, where I found students working with Ms Veal and Mr Capobianco to practise graffiti fonts. I finished the week watching year 7s making cupcakes with Ms Goodwin. The cooking classroom is right next to my office, so the smells of baking and the leftovers were well received.
