Orchard Park High School

Fundraising day for victims of Hurricane Melissa

We are writing to ask for your support for a very important community initiative.

We are writing to ask for your support for a very important community initiative.

Our school will be joining several others across the Borough to hold a special Fundraising Day this Friday, November 21st, for Hurricane Melissa.

Our Croydon community has a significant Jamaican population, and we want to stand in solidarity with them during this difficult time. In partnership with the Croydon BME forum, all funds raised will go directly toward purchasing essential equipment and resources needed to help the affected schools recover and continue providing education to their students.

How students can participate

We have planned two fun ways for students to get involved:

  1. Wear Your Colours Day (Donation): Students are invited to come to school wearing Jamaican-coloured socks or hair accessories (Black, Green, and yellow) with their standard school uniform. To participate in this, pupils should pay £1.00 each.
  2. “Number of Baskets” (Competition): At lunchtime on the playground, students will have the opportunity to participate in a fun Basketball competition. Entry will be 50p and there will be a prize for most baskets scored.

Please note hats and large flags are not permitted.

Your child's participation will make a real difference, providing tangible support to other children who have lost access to their essential learning tools.

We thank you and our wonderful students in advance for your generosity and enthusiasm in supporting this vital community effort.
