Orchard Park High School

Students enjoy sports tour to Spain

A large group of students have jetted off for half term.

Over 50 of our students are currently in Spain, enjoying the sports tour, which began with a trip to a waterpark today. My thanks to Ms Goodwin for her excellent organisation of the trip and to Ms Ruby, Ms J Walsh and Mr Latouche for supporting such a great opportunity. We hope you have a fantastic time.

We had our first ‘future Year 7’ event this week, hosting our 23-24 cohort for an evening of performing arts workshops. Year 10 have been issued with their revision guides and should take some time over the break to work with these and ensure they are fully prepared for the Pre Public Exams which begin on the 26th June.

As part of his 'Adventures in London' endeavour, Mr Wright arranged a trip to the London Dungeons, accompanied by Ms Friday: the students report being terrified, but that they ‘loved it’. The upcoming trips are to Guildford Spectrum and to Brighton. Please see Mr Wright if you would like to attend.

On Thursday, some of our support staff attended the funeral of Vicky Simmons, our previous Site Manager. Vicky was a very loved and valued member of staff who had suffered with cancer over the last year and a half. She maintained contact throughout that time, receiving many visits from us and occasionally coming in to see her friends at Orchard Park. Vicky was knowledgeable, kind and warm. We will miss her very much.

Over the half term we will be running revision sessions for Year 11. Thank you to their amazing teachers for giving up part of their holiday to support our young people. Ms Johnson, Head of English, wanted to publicly praise the following students for superb work in revision classes this week: Alicia, Syed, Reece, Eva, Reah, Danielle, Elise, Marvin, Liam S, Michael, James, Kito, Yonatan , Cody, Zachai, Christo, Kieron, Sarah, Adeola, Anita and Bhavesh.

We return to school on Monday 5th June at the normal time (lined up by 8.25am).

Have a lovely bank holiday and a relaxing half term.

Ms C. Moran, Headteacher
