Orchard Park High School

Prefect applications now open!

We launched the application window for our 2023-24 prefects this week.

This week's assembly has focused on the role of prefects in our school and launched the application window for student leaders of 23-24. It has been great to see so many students engaged in the process and collecting their signatures of support from the teaching staff. The application deadline is Friday 30th June.

Today, we hosted 14 teaching staff from schools in Guernsey who wanted to see the daily routines of Orchard Park, speak with our students, observe lessons, and spend time with our maths and science leaders. The highlight of the day was watching our students talking with them over break time, speaking with maturity and confidence (without preparation). Thank you to Keyanna (Year 7), Alex S (Year 7), J’anniyah (Year 7), Tommy (Year 7), Plamena (Year 10), Patrick (Year 10), Jamal (Year 10) and Khyanne (Year 10) for making us so proud; you are excellent students.

Thank you to our Year 10 families for their brilliant attendance to their ‘Welcome to Year 11’ event on Thursday. It was wonderful to see your support and ambition for your child. Mr Clarke will be sending you copies of the information he shared on the school day for Year 11, the extra provision available and more detailed information on revision for English, maths and science.

We have had a number of Year 11 students returning this week to help out in performing arts: they miss us already! They are excellent role models for other students.

Good luck to Year 10, who begin their Pre Public Exams next week.

A reminder that Friday 30th June is a staff Inset day and students will not be on site.

Have a lovely weekend.

Ms C Moran, Headteacher
