Orchard Park High School

Industrial action

Our plans for strike action on Wednesday 5th July.

Further to my letter dated Friday 30th June, I am writing to update you of our plans to manage the forthcoming planned national and local industrial action on Wednesday 5th July. The school will remain open for the following year groups/pupils only:

  • Year 10
  • Year 9

Children will receive their normal high quality lessons. They should ensure they have their full uniform and all their equipment for that day. Breakfast will be available at 8.10am as usual. Pupils should arrive at the normal time (in line ups by 8.25am sharp).

Year 10 exams will continue as planned. Students have exams in Maths and Chemistry on 5th July and Physics on 7th July. Attendance for these exams is compulsory.

If your child has not been invited into school and they are entitled to Free School Meals, you will be emailed vouchers. Should you have any questions on this, please contact Mr Fallon directly on 02087760220 ext. 108 or by email rfallon@orchardparkhigh.net.

The school will be providing remote education for those students not attending school through the Greenshaw Learning Trust website. Pupils should follow their regular timetable for that day, completing work in their exercise books.  As well as staying up to date with their Sparx and KayScience homework, the full curriculum for the day can be accessed here: https://www.greenshawlearningtrust.co.uk/virtual-curriculum

I want to thank you for your understanding and for making alternative arrangements for your child at short notice. Whilst we appreciate the disruption that this may cause to families and our children, we respect the right of our NEU members to participate in industrial action.

A letter explaining Friday 7th July Strike plan will be sent later in the week.

Ms Carly Moran, Headteacher
