Welcome back!
It's been a great start to the new school year...
Welcome back! Thank you for supporting us with an excellent start to the school year. The students look incredibly smart and, despite the heat, are as keen to learn as ever.
Over the summer holidays we held our summer school for our new Year 7s, carried out refurbishment works for a new photography classroom and a new music classroom and celebrated the brilliant exam results of our Year 11 cohort of 2023 (pictured). Our community obtained results that are significantly higher than our pre-pandemic outcomes, well above the national and borough average and our highest ever attainment and progress. This is only possible with the hard work of students and staff, along with the support of our families. With a reported national picture of lower grades, a return to 2019 grade boundaries and a cohort who have also experienced Covid-related disruptions to their education, we are extremely proud of our students. Achievement in English and Maths has remained high and a range of other subjects including the sciences, geography, languages, drama, music and PE also performed superbly.
We have been very impressed with our Year 7 students who have made a strong start to secondary school. Teachers asked me to highlight Micah, Kalel, Harvey-John, Evie, Betsy, Sofia F and Imode: well done! I know from speaking to the children that they are grateful to their year team for helping them settle so well so thank you to Ms Ongley, Ms Ruby, Ms Coupland, Mr Wright, Mr Samsoondar, Mr Sauvajon and Ms Baatjies. It is great to see parents at the gate after school and we hope the staff on duty are able to address queries when you have them. Please always feel that you can contact us if you need to ask any questions or need support.
Year 11 began their most important year well prepared for the challenges and triumphs ahead. When visiting their lessons this week they are focused and working hard. A particular mention to Kofi, Danilo, Morgan, Nahiem, Ronnie, Hollie, Bianca, Denise, Blessing and Sahail for such a strong start. Ms J Walsh will be leading the students through Year 11 as their Head of Year and Mr Needham, Assistant Headteacher for Raising Standards, is their SLT link and will ensure they make excellent academic progress.
Enjoy the weather this weekend.
