Orchard Park High School

Orchard Park is second highest performing school in the borough

We are delighted with our recent progress measures.

I hope you had a very enjoyable half term. The Department for Education (DfE) has now released the 22/23 progress measures for English schools. Based on this, we can confirm that again we are the second highest performing school in the borough. Thank you to our brilliant staff for the high quality learning and excellent care they give our students, and thank you to the young people themselves who work hard every day. Support from families is a huge part of our success, so we are also really grateful to you.

We hosted a visit from Mr Nabarro, Headteacher of a school within our Trust, who was very impressed by the manners and warmth of every student he spoke to, behaviour in lessons and in the corridor and the quality of learning in all classrooms. 31st October was the borough Year 6 admissions deadline: we are pleased to report our highest ever numbers for first choice applications. We are incredibly proud to serve our community and are elated that the feeling is mutual.

Thank you to Mr Latouche (Head of Year), Mr Needham (Assistant Head for Outcomes), Mr Baksh (Head of Maths) and Mr Gardner (Lead Practitioner for KS4 English) for leading our ‘Welcome to Year 10’ event on Thursday evening. We were thrilled to see so many families. Year 10 and 11 dance classes spent Friday in a workshop led by Mel Simpson learning professional repertoire from Alvin Ailey’s ‘Revelations’. Mel was so impressed she asked when she could return.

Congratulations to Kayla and Matilda in Year 7 for winning today’s house bake off with their Zombie cake (pictured). The rivalry between houses continues this afternoon with a Dodgeball competition after school.

Finally, a reminder of key dates for Year 11:

  • Pre Public Exams begin on Monday 13th November.

  • Parents’ evening is on Thursday 7th December at 4.00pm.

  • Most sixth forms and colleges will set a late December deadline for applications.

  • After the Christmas break, pupils return to school on Wednesday 3rd January.
