Students embrace British Sign Language Week

Equality Club has been promoting British Sign Language this week.

This week, Equality Club has promoted British Sign Language Week. Each morning at roll call, students across the school were taught a new phrase to sign and were rewarded with character points for practising them. They have fully embraced the challenge, showing their new knowledge with pride.

Well done to our Year 7 netball team for winning their game against Shirley High this week, especially Fahmida for receiving player of the match. Our Year 7 and 8 netball teams also played against Coombe Wood. The Year 7 team lost 7 - 4; despite a disappointing score, they only lost in the last minutes of the game. On a more positive note, the Year 8 team drew 5 - 5: Ms Hansford was very proud of the performance that saw players out of their preferred positions due to an early injury. Amara was selected as player of the game.

Year 11 have now completed their PPEs and have received their marks and grades. They will be taking these home to their families today. Please discuss them with your child. Year 11 will have a parents’ evening on Thursday 18th April at 4.00pm. This will be for specific students (not the entire year group). Ms Coupland will be in touch with families next week to let you know if you need to attend.

Thank you to our Year 8 families for their attendance at parents’ evening this week. It is always a pleasure to talk to you about your child’s progress.

The spring term finishes on Thursday 28th March. Students will be dismissed one year group at a time, around midday. Details will be sent on MCAS on Monday. Please ensure you have registered on the app. A reminder that we will fully migrate to MCAS on Monday 15th April, including payments for school lunches. Please contact Mr Fallon on rfallon@orchardparkhigh.net if you require assistance with this.
