Sunshine, hearts and cakes

A heart-filled Fun Friday to end the half term.
Careers in government
We finished last week with a visit from Natasha Irons MP who was keen to get to know our school. She enjoyed her visit and is returning to spend time talking about careers in government and to support the work of our Equality Club.
Powerful production for Year 9 students
On Tuesday, as part of their PSHE programme, Year 9 students watched a powerful production of
'I Love You, Mum – I Promise I Won’t Die' by Mark Wheeller. Commissioned by the Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation, the play tells the true story of 16-year-old Dan, who tragically lost his life after taking the drug MDMA at an illegal rave. Through the real words of those who knew him, the performance delivered a vital message about the dangers of drug misuse. As always, students' behaviour was exemplary, and they interacted really deeply with this important and moving play.
Excellence Pathway
Our Year 7s on the Excellence Pathway graduated from the Scholars Programme (Brilliant Club) at Goldsmiths University of London. After seven weeks of university-style tutorials on computational thinking, they completed a final assignment: ‘Mission Possible: solving world problems with computer science’. All the students worked really hard and passed their assignment. The young scholars were encouraged to reflect on the journey through the course before they received their certificates at the graduation ceremony. They spoke confidently about their experiences and the skills they believe they have gained from taking part in the Scholars program. Congratulations to Kaelynn, Abdullah, Ezra, Saniyah, Shay, Matthew, Millie, Adesuwa, Mia, Evan, Stelian, Riyadh and Remell. Thank you to Mr Afriye for another successful run of the Scholars Programme.
Heart-filled Fun Friday
It has been a lovely end to the half term today. Sunshine, hearts and cakes. Well done to the Year 11 pupils who ran our Valentine's Day bake sale to raise funds for their prom and to Ms Baatjies for running a heart-filled Fun Friday.
Sports fixtures update from Mr Headley
On Monday our in-form Year 8 football team hosted Archbishop Tenison. The team started strong by scoring in the first ten seconds to put them in the lead. Joseph G, Mason and Evan all stepped up to the challenge and contributed to the team. The Year 8s finished the game 7-4 winners, with goal contributions from Caleb x 2, Trey x 2, Pjeter x 1, Divine x 1 and Micah x 1. With performances like these, it leaves Mr Headley with a squad selection headache! Well done to the team as we prepare for our league game vs Woodcote upon our return after half-term.
A reminder that next week is half term. We return to school on Monday 24 February.
