Orchard Park High School

House system is launched

The new system was introduced in our assemblies this week.

This week saw the launch of our House system. The assemblies were full of motivation where students were challenged to collaborate with other year groups to earn as many Character points as possible to be top of the leaderboard. I am a member of Hawking House, but I know as Headteacher I must not show any favouritism… I may find that hard as I love a healthy competition, but I will do my best! Below are the names of our House Leaders.

Thank you to all the Year 7 families who attended our welcome event on Thursday. We hope you found the information helpful, especially on managing your child’s online conduct, and that you enjoyed meeting their form tutors. We are very pleased with how quickly year 7 have become part of the
Orchard Park family. They are wonderful young people who are going to be incredibly successful here.
Well done to Lucia Clarke in Year 8 who has been very studious this week, completing extra work and learning independently. Thank you to Kevin, Khethiwe, Nyshel, Kirsten, Jovonte, Samantha, Kya,
Hayden, Mahmood and Ty in Year 9 for an enjoyable breakfast with me this morning. It is always a pleasure to hear how much they appreciate the staff and to discuss their suggestions for improving our school.

Our Open Evening takes place on Thursday 29th September at 5.00pm. We are very excited to show off our fantastic school to the wider community. As mentioned last week, students will be dismissed at lunch time on that date to ensure we have time to prepare the site. Children in receipt of free school meals will be given a sandwich lunch to take away. The dismissal times are as follows:

  • 12:30pm - Year 7
  • 12:40pm - Year 11
  • 12:50pm - Year 8, 9 and 10

Best wishes

Ms C Moran, Headteacher
