Orchard Park High School

Proud of our school

Our open mornings have been a great success this week.

Following our open evening, we have held four, fully booked open mornings this week. We are incredibly proud of our school and the students who make it so special. They were fantastic in telling our visitors all about Orchard Park, receiving many compliments about their warmth and fluent conversation. Teagan, Lilly, Mollie, Sage, Divine Lyn, Emanuella and Sophie have been particularly brilliant. Due to demand, we are holding two more open mornings next week on Tuesday and Thursday. Details for any of your friends or family with Year 6 children can be found on the school website here

Black History Month

Equality Club have led our assemblies for Black History Month, drawing attention to the key message for 2022; ‘actions not words’. We would like to say a special well done to Saivarshini, Niamh, Charis, Hollie D, Shamgar, Dotun, Mahmood, Alfie and Khetiwe.

Charity house events

Next week we are hosting two House charity events. On Thursday 13th October, children are invited to wear an accessory that represents their house colours:

House name

House colour

David Attenborough

Green

Stephen Hawking

Red

Rosa Parks

Orange

Marcus Rashford

Yellow

Malala Yousafzai

Purple

Accessories should fit the following criteria:

  • 1 Hairband
  • 1 Hat
  • 1 Bracelet
  • 1 Ring
  • 1 Pair of socks
  • 1 Pair of earrings

All money raised will be donated to our house charities.

Food collection

As it is the season of harvest, we will also be collecting non-perishable food and toiletry items to donate to our local food bank. House Leaders will be on the gate with boxes next week to receive the gifts. Items can also be handed in to reception.

A reminder that Thursday 13th October is Year 11 parents’ evening which is taking place on site. Friday 14th October is a staff Inset day and the school will be closed to students.

We say goodbye to Ms Smith, my wonderful PA. She has worked at our school for 13 years and we will miss her hugely. She leaves with our best wishes and love as she begins an exciting role in Government offices.

Have a lovely weekend.

Ms C. Moran, Headteacher
