This week we have been Celebrating Black History Month with our wonderful Equality Club delivering assemblies all this week celebrating significant individuals in Britain with the focus on integrity and mutual respect. A huge well done to Tinuade, Charis, Jaydanay, Amy O and Niamh and thank you to Mr Evans for organising this.

On Wednesday we held our Year 7 Meet the Tutor event, led by Ms Goodwin. Thank you to all the families who attended. This was an important opportunity to understand the ways in which your child is supported and challenged to achieve their very best at Orchard Park High School and a chance to meet other parents.

Also on Wednesday our year 11 Geographers were accompanied by Ms Walsh, Ms Coupland, Mr Evans, Ms Powlesland and Ms McCallum to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to carry out the Human Geography component of their GCSE. Staff and visitors reported on how well behaved our students were both on public transport and whilst in the Olympic Park.

Sports fixture update

On Tuesday, our Year 8s kicked off their first football fixture of the season with a thrilling encounter against Woodcote. Just when it looked set to end in a draw, Woodcote struck in the dying seconds, snatching the win in dramatic fashion. It was a tough result to take, but the team showed great resilience and togetherness throughout. A special mention goes to Lashane, who was awarded player of the match. With plenty of positives to build on, we are looking forward to our next game.
