Feeling festive at Orchard Park

Winter concert
We were proud to take part in the Greenshaw Learning Trust Winter Concert held in the beautiful grounds of Charterhouse School. Our students delivered two brilliant performances, a LAMDA piece, Christmas Clarity Chorus and the song Human. The concert ended with a wonderful song from the GLT choir, with Sofia and Demid singing solos. I have received multiple emails of praise from our Trust colleagues commending our students on their confidence, talent and wonderful conduct throughout a long day of rehearsals. Thank you to Ms Maddox and Mr Sahl-Taylor, Jaya, Sofia, Holly, Evie, Harisha, Rosie, Myah, Demid, Maria, Elsie, Ayanna-May and Jaydannay.
Football success
Last week, Year 7 and 8 girls won their football fixture away to Woodcote. Two excellent goals from Layah and then one from Brooke put us 3-1 up at half time. The second half was a lot tougher. However, Layah scored again to give her a hattrick. The game ended 4-3 to us. Shoutouts to Layah, Brooke, Azra and Pier in Year 8 and Yochabel and Chaniyah-Rae in Year 7 who defended really well. Year 7 and 8 also played netball against Coombe Wood on Monday and won. This was the Year 7 team's first time representing the school and they confidently won 9-1, with Khalia selected as captain for the first match and Clara chosen as player of the match. This means that the Year 8 team remains undefeated this season so far, winning their game 6-1, with Pier picked as the outstanding player.
Festive Christmas lunch
Yesterday we extended a warm invitation to several members of our local church, St George's, for a festive Christmas lunch. The event was a great success, thanks to Ms Walsh and the organisational efforts of our year 9, 10 and 11 students – Obed, Mario, Ezekiel, Ashrah, and Zhane. During the lunch, students and guests enjoyed playing games and shared stories, creating a lovely festive atmosphere. We have already had the guests write to thank us and they have said our students were a delight, thoughtful, charming, and interesting. We are very proud of them!
As part of our Christmas Jumper day yesterday, we raised over £160 for the Jimmy Mizen Foundation. Thank you to everyone for their donations.
