Orchard Park High School

A Level and BTEC Results 2019

Head Teacher, Mrs Warnock said, “We are delighted with our A Levels results this year and especially proud of our students’ achievements.

Given that these are the first set of results of the reformed A Level qualifications which are deemed to be more rigorous and challenging, we are thrilled that everyone has performed to such a high standard and accomplished some truly fantastic outcomes. These strong outcomes are a testament to the commitment and hard work that has taken place over the last two years from students, staff and parents. We congratulate all of our students and we wish them every success as they embark upon university life. We are notably thrilled that almost all students secured their first choice university place. ”

The overall pass rate was an impressive 87% with the school successfully reaching its targets for A*-A and A*-B grades. Our Tech Level subjects excelled with the overall performance reaching 100% A*-C and 40% A*-B, the average grade achieved was a D*. Equally, our Applied qualifications achieved 100% pass rate with an average grade of M+.  These are extremely impressive results.

The best performing subjects were Business Studies, PE, and Russia in which most students achieved the highest grades. The following subjects achieved 100% – Business Studies, Physics, Maths, History, Russian and Sociology.  In Maths and Psychology the pass rate was 86% followed by 67% in Chemistry. Notably the performance in History was 33% A*-B, 57% A*-B in BTEC PE and 100% A*-B in Russian.

Our top performing students were Jay Lambeth, Faith Marfleet and Richard Kwaning.

Many of our students are now off to university or taking up apprenticeships at a variety of providers.

A special thanks goes to our sixth form team – Mr Hubbard, Miss Robins and Mr Crossnan who have led and supported students to secure these strong outcomes. They take great pride and satisfaction in knowing that so many have secured their first choice university places.

Mr Hubbard, Head of Sixth said, “I am incredibly proud of our students who have worked hard to fulfil and achieve their potential. They have been a credit to the school and to themselves as they have gone above and beyond in everything that they have done. I take great pleasure in knowing that they are now on their way to university and who knows what the world holds for them thereafter. Congratulations and well done everyone.”
