SEND updates
Orchard Park High School provides support for students with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
SEND news and information will be posted below and on our X feed @orchardparkhigh. There are also links to many useful resources about the ELP and Orchard Park's SEND offer on our website here.
Travel training
Travel Training will be hosting an event on 27th May at Braithwaite Hall aimed at parents/carers and young people with special needs who are transitioning to secondary school or moving onto college. There will be discussion of the steps that can be made to encourage independence and ways to keep safe. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to discuss their concerns about safe travel in Croydon. There will be presentations from the Metropolitan police, the travel trainers and successful trainees, and others. There will also be other groups who engage with young people with SEN and/or disabilities and their families.

Deadline for applications for travel assistance
Deadline for applications for travel assistance for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities living in Croydon and transferring to secondary school is 18th April 2025. The deadline for children starting reception is 13th June 2025.
Ideally, parents/carers should apply online at the following address: Apply for travel assistance 5-16 | Croydon Council. Alternatively, a copy of the attached application form can be completed and emailed to transport.eligiblity@croydon.gov.uk. Screenshots of applications cannot be accepted.
Unfortunately, eligible applications received after the deadline dates will not receive travel entitlement until after the October half term.

SEND multi-sport festival
Access Sport is organising a SEND multi-sport festival on Thursday 20th February at New Addington Leisure Centre.
This free event is for d/Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent children and young people and their families.
